Faworki

Sorry guys! You need to learn this name ;) worth knowing it, as those little goodness are associated with Fat Thursday in Poland as well.

They are crunchy, and soft inside and just yummy with that subtle layer of icing sugar just melts gently in your mouth… ohhh… just starving writing it all down for you.

There is many recipes for those goodies, however I do like the fact that content of some amount of alcohol will help the dough fry without absorbing the fat. Which in my opinion makes them that bit extra healthier ;)

So I have found some really easy recipe on the polish blog called Posmakuj-to.blogspot.com and the recipe over there is super quick and easy, dough perfect to make and very elastic. My hubby is a master of doing Faworki, so after making the dough I left him to roll it down and do the rest ;)

Ingredients:

2x gls of plain flour

3x egg yolks

1x egg

1/2x gls of beer

1x teaspoon of room temperature butter

pinch of salt

frying oil (@1l )

some icing sugar for dusting

Prepare yourself a pan with frying oil and leave on a hob.
Prepare a tray and line it with kitchen towel. Leave on a side.

Take a big bowl or use a kitchen surface to make the dough. Simply add your flour, pinch of salt, make a hole in the middle and add your beer and eggs. Make the dough.
Dough will be super elastic, but not sticky to your fingers. Add as much flour you need, but do not go beyond!
Then roll the dough as thin as you can on a rectangular shape and cut the dough by the shorter side for 2x fingers thick slices and then half it. Make an incision in the middle of each of the cut leaving around 1-2cm from each end.
Turn on the heat under your pan.

In the meantime take each of those “slices” with the incision in the middle and twist and pull through (gently) one side of the “slice” through the hole. You can do it couple of times or just ones, depends on your preferences.

When oil is ready just fry them for golden colour on both sides, then move to prepared with kitchen towel tray. Leave it for few moments to drop the access of oil and then remove to another plate and sprinkle with icing sugar and yeaaa! That’s it! Enjoy! ;)
